The Hall of Great Supremacy is also known as the Hall of Ultimate Principle or the Hall of the Supreme Being, depending on translation.

The Tai Ji Dian Hall, Hall of the Supreme Being was named Palace of the Young Night (Wei Yang Gong) during the years of the Ming Dynasty.

During both Dynasties the Hall served mainly as a residence for one of the many Imperial Concubines.
During her days as a concubine of the Xian Feng Emperor (Reign 1850 AD - 1862 AD), this was once the residence of the notorious Empress-Dowager Hsu-Tzi, by far China's most hated Feudal Lady. Later, the concubines of last Emperor Pu Yi (Xuan Tong, Reign 1908 AD -1911 AD) were housed here.
